Mark Pawsey is calling on Warwickshire County Council to reverse their decision to erect 50mph speed signs in the country lanes around the village of Brinklow, following a meeting with a concerned local resident who fears that the signs will result in drivers unfamiliar to the area having an accident.
Mark explained: “I recently met with concerned resident Matthew Wright, who not only shared his concerns about the new speed limit signs but showed me the effects they are having on the lanes around the village, which include skid marks on resurfaced roads, and masonry dislodged from a road bridge.”
“You do not need to be an expert in these matters to realise that if you erect speed limit signs saying its OK to drive at speeds of 50mph on country lanes, some of which are single track, that before too long there will be a serious accident taking place – something which village residents and I are determined to avoid.”
“Since I visited the area, I have written to the County Council calling on them to see sense on road safety around Brinklow, by taking down the speed signs which are causing concern, so that villagers like Matthew can once again have peace of mind that cars will not be speeding along these country lanes.”
