Mark Pawsey has welcomed David Cameron’s comments in Prime Minister’s Question, highlighting the tourism opportunities for Rugby town ahead of England and Wales hosting the Rugby Union World Cup in 2015.
Answering a question from Mark Pawsey MP in the House of Commons, the Prime Minister said:
‘My hon. Friend is absolutely right that it is the best possible advertisement for his town. I have done a public meeting in his high street and know what a warm, interesting and varied reception you can get in the town of Rugby.’
Mark commented:
‘Hosting the Rugby Union World Cup in 2015 will be an exciting opportunity for the whole country, and nowhere more so than Rugby. As a town, we are proud to be the birthplace of the game, and I am working to make sure that the spotlight is on the town when the World Cup arrives in two years time.’
Mark concluded:
‘It was good to hear that the Prime Minister is on board to help Rugby make the most of the World Cup. Everyone is looking forward to the world-class sport we will see in 2015, and it is essential that Rugby makes the most of the economic and tourism opportunities that it will provide.’
