Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has been officially named as the Parliamentary Ambassador for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, to be held in England. Mark is a Rugby enthusiast and enjoys watching and playing the game at every opportunity. As Chair of both the Commons and Lords Rugby Club and the Parliamentary Rugby World Cup committee he is determined to increase the awareness of the town of Rugby as the birthplace of the game. He was delighted that England 2015 felt he was the ideal choice.
Mark said:
“It is a great privilege to be asked by Debbie Jevans, the Chief Executive of the Rugby World Cup 2015, to be the tournaments Parliamentary Ambassador”.
Mark continued:
“Rugby is the only town in the world to have given its name to a sport played internationally so I see this as a fantastic opportunity to attract people to Rugby over the coming months and years”.
Mark concluded:
“I know plans are already well underway at a local level to get Rugby’s preparations for the World Cup up and running. We have a unique experience to attract people from all over the world to Rugby in the next few years and I will continue to do all I can to bring new tourists and businesses to Rugby”.
