Mark Pawsey, Member of Parliament for Rugby and Bulkington is celebrating £4.1 million of National Lottery funding being awarded to great local projects throughout the community.
The money, raised by players of the National Lottery to support good causes, is being distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK. Mark met with members of the Fund in Parliament to find out more about the community projects receiving funding and the difference they make to local residents.
The National Lottery Community Fund supports charities, community groups, and people with great ideas – local or national, large or small, no matter what their starting point. Mark is now calling on local groups to find out how to apply for a National Lottery grant. Funding starts from just £300 and 90% of the grants made are for under £10,000 – going to grassroots groups and charities that are bringing to life amazing ideas that matter to their communities. Groups can find out how to apply by going to www.TNLCommunityFund.org.uk.
In previous years, money from the National Lottery Community Fund has been awarded to Brownsover Community Association’s Youth Project, funded play equipment for Church Lawford recreation ground and supported victims of domestic abuse and violence through RoSA – showing the wide range of different projects which the National Lottery can support.
Speaking after meeting with the National Lottery Community Fund, Mark said:
“It’s great news that £4.1 of National Lottery funding has gone to community projects in Rugby and Bulkington. These groups are inspirational in the great work and support they provide to local people. Thanks to their effort and dedication, National Lottery money is helping our community to thrive and I would urge anybody else in Rugby and Bulkington with a great idea to find out what funding they could secure.”
Mark continued:
“I have seen for myself the amazing work that lottery funding has enabled, including at the Hill Street Centre in the heart of Rugby. These great projects can really transform the lives of local residents who are involved. I hope that more community groups will take advantage of the funding which is available, so that we can see more of people’s ideas made a reality.”
