This week the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Conservatives' commitment to support hardworking people and families throughout their lives. Ensuring security for families is at the heart of our plan to enable everyone to enjoy the benefits of our long-term economic plan.
Help with childcare costs
As a parent of four children Mark knows the pressures childcare costs can place on families. It now costs around £115 per week to send a child under two to nursery for 25 hours per week and after mortgage or rent payments childcare is often the largest monthly expenditure for working families. That is why under a future Conservative Government we will extend free childcare from 15 hours a week up to 30 hours per week, potentially saving families £5,000 per year. The Conservatives want to ensure that parents who want to go back to work can do so in the knowledge that all of their hard-earned money will not be spent solely on childcare costs.
Taking the family home out of Inheritance Tax
The family home is something that we all cherish and becomes most people's biggest asset. It is only natural to want to pass on the fruits of a lifetime's hard work to children and grandchildren. A Conservative Government will increase the inheritance tax threshold so that only the wealthiest pay – as was always intended. We will take the family home out of inheritance tax because we are on the side of hard working people who do the right thing.
Over the past five years the Conservatives have built solid foundations and got our country back on track. By voting Conservative on 7th May, you will be voting to turn the good news on our economy into a good life for you and your family.
The Conservatives are only half way through our plan and we need to finish the job to ensure a good life for everyone in our country.
