Mark Pawsey, MP for Rugby and Bulkington, attended a briefing of Industrial Strategy last week, accompanied by senior business leaders from Rugby. The briefing covered the work being done by the Government through the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and was led by the Secretary of State, Vince Cable MP. Mark was accompanied by Ian Southcott, UK Community Affairs Manager for CEMEX; Alistair George of George & Co Chartered Surveyors and Jim Griffin, Managing Director of Automotive Industries.
Mark said:
“I was delighted to meet business local leaders Jim Griffin, Alistair George and Ian Southcott in Parliament for a meeting with Business Secretary Vince Cable. The Government is working hard to generate growth in the economy which enables it to fund services which people in Rugby and Bulkington need. The business community are integral to our economic growth and it was good to learn that the Government will be continuing with many successful incentives to enable further growth in our economy.”
Mark continued:
“The Government’s long-term economic plan is about allowing businesses and industry to continue to grow, creating more job opportunities here in Rugby and Bulkington. We therefore need to have a partnership between government and industry, giving businesses the confidence to grow and expand. Rugby has a proud history of manufacturing and encouraging local business growth and this Government is building on that through the Local Enterprise Partnerships we have introduced, providing an extra £89.3 million for Coventry and Warwickshire.”
Mark concluded:
“Labour have once again proved that we cannot trust them with the economy and the choice at the election will be clear – competence and growth under the Conservatives, or chaos and division under Ed Miliband’s Labour party.”
