The Leader of the House, the Rt. Hon. David Lidington MP, congratulated the work of the volunteers and team at Rugby Borough Council and added that the Government’s policy on encouraging neighbourhood planning gives local people a greater say in the future of parks and green spaces.
Speaking after Business Questions, Mark said:
“Local residents can be very proud of what they have achieved. Rugby has enjoyed great success over the past years, having won a ninth successive gold at the regional Heart of England in Bloom Awards in September. The achievement of winning gold at a national level is recognition of the hard work that local volunteers and Rugby Borough Council’s Parks and Grounds Team, under the leadership of Chris Worman, put in year after year.”
Mark continued:
“I am also very pleased that Caldecott Park has been nominated for an award in the UK’s Best Park awards. Seeing Caldecott Park transform into the community hub it is today was a real pleasure and I hope that Rugby residents will support it during the voting.”
Mark concluded:
“Local parks and green spaces a vital asset for our community, providing places where people can gather and play sport, walk or just enjoy the scenery. Rugby is very fortunate to have such committed volunteers and support from the local Council who ensure that year after year the town secures these prestigious awards. It would be fantastic to also see Caldecott Park win this year.”
