Mark Pawsey MP is supporting local man Sonny Winston as he prepares to tackle the Marathon Des Sables to raise money for cancer research. This is a 6 day ultra endurance event run over the Sahara Desert which totals over 150 miles.
Mark said:
” I am incredibly supportive of Sonny’s efforts and when he explained the event to me I was amazed at what he had signed up for! This is a special event being undertaken for a great cause and I hope that individuals and businesses in Rugby will be able to support him in his efforts in any way they can.”
Sonny has 2 months of preparation left before the event in April and hopes to raise as much awareness of the Marathon as possible. Last year Sonny was part of a group of Rugby residents who cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats raising over £5000 for cancer research.
Mark added:
”This cause is something close to Sonny’s heart, and to my own, and I wish him all the best for his training; I know from meeting him that this is something he is fully committed to and something which is incredibly special for him.”
Mark concluded:
”Cancer is something which affects so many lives and I hope as many individuals and businesses as possible will have a look at Sonny’s online pages and see how they can help out; whether it is sponsorship, or logistical support or even just words of encouragement I am sure that Sonny, and all those he is doing this for, will be immensely grateful.”
Mark has urged everyone to go online to see how they can support Sonny’s efforts at:
