Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has written to Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, Mark Prisk, concerning the Government’s plans for the future of the Ansty Science and Technology Park, currently in the ownership of Regional Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands.
In a written response The Minister has confirmed the ‘national importance’ of the site and that Ansty will benefit from being retained and managed by central government for the time being.
Commenting on the reply Mark said:
“I am delighted that the strategic importance of the land at Ansty has been recognised by the Government. This site, located adjacent to Junction 2 of the M6, is intended as a home for new high tech manufacturing, with Ericsson and the UK’s Manufacturing Technology Centre both located on site.”
Mark added
“During this difficult economic time it is vital that we do all that we can to support the country’s manufacturing and technical base, particularly here in the Midlands where we have a proud history in this area. A supply of land where new development can take place and innovative new businesses can cluster together is an essential requirement for the economic growth the country needs. Statements such as this from the Minister demonstrate the commitment of this Government to manufacturing and employment, which is positive for both Rugby and the wider economy”.
