Rugby’s MP Mark Pawsey is joining local community campaigner Ian Picker and other Litter Heroes to clean up in Hillmorton for this year’s Great British Spring Clean.
Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy’s annual national clean up – the Great British Spring Clean is back, this year running on 2nd – 4th March. It is an opportunity for all of us do our bit to reduce the litter blighting our country. Mark and a team of volunteers will be out in Hillmorton on March 3rd 2018, helping to keep the town’s green spaces clean.
Anyone wanting to get involved with the Hillmorton team should contact Hillmorton Community Campaigner Ian Picker on ianpicker@gmail.com.
Last year the campaign saw more Litter Heroes than ever collect a staggering 70,000 wheelie bins of rubbish over one weekend. More than 300,000 people got involved, cleaned up their local streets, parks and beaches, and had fun doing it. This year, Mark and Ian hope to have a large team of local people doing their bit to help keep Rugby clean and tidy.
Mark commented:
“Across Rugby and Bulkington, local people will be taking to the streets to help Keep Britain Tidy. I know that our community is passionate about keeping our town clean and tidy and look forward to joining volunteers in Hillmorton on 3rd March 2018.”
Mark continued:
“Keep Britain Tidy is a great charity who run events throughout the year and do particularly good work with local schools. They also run the Green Flag award for Parks and Green Spaces, something which Rugby has been recognised in thanks to the hard work of volunteers in our local green spaces, like Caldecott Park and Millennium Park.”
Ian Picker, Hillmorton Community Campaigner added:
“The green spaces in Hillmorton are a real source of pride for the community, which is why it’s important that we keep them clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy. Alongside the local councillors, I’ve been out and about helping to pick up litter but I’m really hoping we have a big team out on March 3rd for the Great British Spring Clean.”
