Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has backed National Apprenticeship Week 2018, which showcases the work being done across the country by skilled apprentices.
Now in its 11th year, National Apprenticeship Week runs from 5th March 2018 to 9th March 2018. During the week Mark will be visiting local businesses training apprentices to find out more about the opportunities they offer to both employers and apprentices.
During National Apprenticeship Week employers and apprentices from across England will come together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships whilst encouraging even more people to choose an apprenticeship as the pathway to a great career.
Recently published figures by the Federation of Master Builders also show that those who pursue an apprenticeship in the construction industry can benefit from higher annual salaries than those who go to university, thanks to the growing demand for skilled tradespeople.
Mark said:
“Encouraging young people to consider choosing to undertake an apprenticeship rather than going to university, if it is right for them, is a key goal of National Apprenticeship Week. Our economy here in Rugby is booming with highly skilled trade jobs in both the construction industry and in engineering, with a great many opportunities for the next generation.”
Mark continued:
“I am delighted to be supporting National Apprenticeship Week and I will be spending time in the constituency with local employers and apprentices. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the valuable contribution apprenticeships make to individuals, employers, the local community and the economy.”
Mark concluded:
“Apprenticeships are important to those undertaking them as they provide them with the skills they need to succeed in life. They are also excellent for employers, giving them the opportunity to mould and shape the workforce they need and I would encourage every employer in Rugby to consider what benefits an apprenticeship scheme will offer them.”
