Mark Pawsey MP works with local residents to highlight problem of increased noise on the railways in Hillmorton
Rugby Borough Council is to carry out a survey in Hillmorton to measure the increased noise from the railways that local residents claim has come about since the redevelopment of Rugby station. Since the redevelopment residents claim faster trains have been travelling through the station which has led a big increase in noise.
Mark said:
“I met with a number of Hillmorton residents last year who drew my attention towards the problem of increased noise on the railways. At that point I organized a meeting between residents, Network Rail and Rugby Borough Council to discuss the problem.”
Mark continued:
“I have been in continued correspondence with Network Rail since that meeting but unfortunately the organization has been unwilling to either assess the situation or recognize the problem exists despite the distress it is clearly causing those living near the railways. I have also raised this issue in Parliament.”
Mark concluded:
“I am delighted that the council will now carry out the survey. If the survey provides hard evidence as to the increased nature of the problem then Network Rail will be unable to continue to ignore the people of Hillmorton and their concerns.”
