I am disappointed that the House of Commons has rejected the Draft Withdrawal Deal proposed by the Prime Minister and the European Union. There will now be an unnecessary vote of confidence in the Government, which the Government is expected to win, and we can then move on to resolving the question of our future relationship with the European Union.
What we now need is for Parliament to come together and work with the Government to find a way forward. I have always been clear that the best future for the UK includes a close trading relationship with our partners in the EU which is in the interests of businesses in Rugby and the West Midlands, and which provides the jobs, growth and investment to deliver a strong economy, whilst also delivering on the result of the referendum.
