On Monday 12th May, local MP Mark Pawsey welcomed students from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy to Parliament. Mark arranged for students and tutors from the Academy to be given a tour of the House of Commons, the House of Lords and the Palace of Westminster. Mark then met with the group to discuss his role as Rugby’s MP and to learn more about the work the students are presently undertaking.
Speaking after the visit Mark said:
“I was delighted to welcome the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy to Parliament. I always thoroughly enjoy meeting students in Westminster and given my history as a small local businessman it was very interesting to meet with so many budding entrepreneurs.”
Mark continued:
“I was delighted to be able to share my own personal experiences of running a small business in Rugby and how those experiences have stimulated my passion for celebrating Rugby’s many excellent small, local businesses since becoming the town’s MP.”
Mark concluded:
“The Government is incredibly supportive of entrepreneurs, with 14,000 having been supported through Start-Up loans in recent years which have helped them to get their ideas off the ground. I am very confident after meeting the students from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy that many of them will go on to carve out successful business careers for themselves and they can do so safe in the knowledge that this Government will do all it can to help them succeed.”
