Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has welcomed the latest local unemployment figures which show that the number of claimants in the town has fallen by 369 since January of 2013. Youth unemployment has also fallen by 60% since the last General Election in May 2010 (545 in May 2010 fell to 220 in January 2014).
Mark said:
“These are encouraging figures on unemployment, and youth unemployment, here in Rugby but there is still more to do.”
Mark commented:
“Across the country, as well as here in Rugby, unemployment is down and youth unemployment is down which is very positive news. It is clear that the Government’s long-term economic plan is working and that stability and confidence has returned to our economy; but the job is not finished yet.”
Mark concluded:
“I will continue to do all I can to beat the drum for Rugby both here and in Westminster and to highlight what a fantastic place our town is to live, work and set up a business. The country is on the right track and this Government is committed to ensuring that we remain on it.”
