Mark Pawsey MP has highlighted the excellent work done by local head teacher Don O’Neill and his staff in achieving a ‘good’ Ofsted report. Speaking on the pupil premium, Mark pointed to the fact that Mr O’Neill and his staff were praised for “using the premium effectively to provide a welcome narrowing of the attainment gap between the students who benefit from the premium and their classmates.”
Speaking afterwards, Mark said:
“Good schools are right at the heart of any community, and Rugby can be very proud of all its schools. This recent report shows that Avon Valley is providing an education for its pupils which means that they will have the best chance in life, and the greatest opportunities that we could wish for them.”
Mark concluded:
“Every generation has the opportunity to leave their children with better and broader opportunities than they themselves had – and thanks to the excellent work of parents and teachers in Rugby, that is happening. I am pleased that the Leader of the House recognised the outstanding teaching and leadership at Avon Valley. As he said “good schools require good leaders”, and I am delighted that Avon Valley and our other local schools really do have good leaders.”
