Park Homes offer many people an affordable opportunity to escape to the country, but it has been clear for a while that some dishonest operators abuse their position to make a profit at their resident’s expense.
Mark said:
“I am delighted that the Government has brought in these new protective measures. I am a member of the Communities and Local Government Select Committee in Westminster, which last year held an inquiry into Park Homes. I am glad the Government listened to our calls for effective regulation of this sector and that these are now being implemented”.
Mark continued:
“As part of our inquiry we travelled to Bournemouth to take evidence from both Park Home residents and owners and it was clear that both sides wanted disreputable site owners driven out of the market. We heard of site owners putting obstacles in the way of owners of Park Homes wishing to sell their home, and it is this attitude that has made regulation of the sector of the utmost importance”.
Mark concluded:
“I am delighted that the Government is safeguarding Park Home residents in Rugby and Bulkington. These new protections will close the loopholes to root out the rogue operators and ensure those who run an honest business will continue to flourish. Local Councils like Rugby Borough Council and Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council will also now have powers to protect the vulnerable so that residents will be able to enjoy their rural retreats in peace”
