Rugby MP Mark Pawsey joined Motorola Solutions for the unveiling of their modernised Airwave headquarters in Rugby, Warwickshire, following a £2.1m investment in the site.
Motorola is a global leader in public safety and enterprise security and the investment will create a workspace that promotes collaboration and further boost operations with the latest technology. First opened in 2009, the Rugby office is a hub for innovation in control room, mobile policing and body worn camera solutions and services. In addition, it is home to the operation centre for the Airwave network, which provides instant and secure communications for the 300,000 emergency services users across Great Britain that rely on its critical service every day.
The investment in Rugby is one of a number of significant investments Motorola Solutions has made in the UK technology sector. Together with the expertise in Rugby, this forms a hub of technological innovation across a range of areas to help improve public safety and transform the security and efficiency of the emergency services.
Mark Pawsey, after opening the modernised Rugby site:
“Motorola Solutions’ investment in Rugby’s local economy shows its continued commitment to the region. For the past 14 years, the company has supported hundreds of jobs in fields such as engineering and software development, managing and maintaining the Airwave emergency services communications system that provides critical and secure communications for first responders across the country.”
Fergus Mayne, country manager U.K. and Ireland at Motorola Solutions added:
“For over 50 years, Motorola Solutions has been a trusted partner for public safety in the U.K. This investment highlights our commitment to supporting the UK’s emergency services. The newly created collaborative office space provides a state-of-the-art work environment to help our teams be productive and attract the best new talent to our industry and a career in communications.”
