Installation of lift for disabled visitors enhances facilities on offer
Mark Pawsey MP was invited recently to Arnold House in Rugby to view recent adaptations to the building to provide better access for the disabled.
Arnold House, at the bottom of Elsee Road, has been open for public functions for some years, and mindful of the Equality Act, it has long been the desire for a lift to be fitted. Thanks to generous fund raising, this has now been achieved, which means that visitors with disabilities now have access to all of the public rooms.
Stuart Esworthy, Chairman of Arnold House, said:
"We are delighted that this facility is now available for use. We have already hosted a civil ceremony and a musical event in the upstairs Temple. The lift was in full use and visitors commented how much it has enhanced our building."
Mark said:
“Thanks to the generous donations of others, it’s great news that the venue has been enhanced in this way.”
Mark continued:
“I was very pleased to see the lift in action and am aware that it will make a huge difference to those with disabilities wishing to attend ceremonies and events at Arnold House.”
