Local MP Mark Pawsey recently attended Rugby College’s Catch the Wave event for upcoming entrepreneurial students. At the event, Mark spoke about his 25 years of experience in managing and running his own business here in Rugby as well as the influence this has had on his time as Rugby’s MP. The event, organised by the Peter Jones academy at Rugby College was an opportunity for the students to meet with local business mentors and discuss the opportunities available for those looking to start their own business.
Mark said:
“I was very happy to go and discuss my experiences of running a business with local students. It is important that young people are encouraged to look at the opportunities available in the small business community, and while it is very hard work, building your own business is incredibly rewarding and we should do all we can to ensure that those that want to start their own business receive the support they need.”
Mark continued:
“Britain has a long and proud tradition of having strong, independent businesses and we all benefit from having a thriving business community. That is why I think that the work being carried out by Warwickshire College, which is enabling our young people have the opportunity to succeed in the business world, is so important.”
Mark concluded:
“I’m always delighted to have an opportunity to be able to share the knowledge and skills I acquired running a business with the next generation of entrepreneurs. I am also proud of the Government’s work in supporting those going into business, as part of our long-term economic plan which is bringing growth and prosperity back to our country.”
Samantha Ramsay, Lecturer in Further Education Business & Peter Jones Enterprise Academy:
"We were delighted that our MP Mark Pawsey was able to join Rugby College for this event which was organised by the students themselves. It was great for them to be able to hear from Mr Pawsey about his experiences in the business world and put their questions to him."
