Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has announced the winner of his 2020 Christmas card competition, 9-year-old Kane Firkins of Rugby Free Primary School
Mark received over 80 entries this year from Primary Schools right across the constituency, and picking a winner proved as challenging as ever. The card, which features Kane’s design on the front, will be sent to charities, organisations and businesses throughout Rugby and Bulkington.
Alongside his design being used for Mark’s Christmas card, Kane and his family will be invited to visit Parliament once coronavirus restrictions allow them to do so. As part of their visit they will be treated to a tour of the Palace of Westminster followed by Tea on the Terrace with Mark.
The runners up this year were Olly Brown from Boughton Leigh Junior School, Caitlin Aston from The Revel C of E Primary School and Ilsa Brown from Rugby Free Primary School. Their designs are featured on the inside of Mark’s card.
Because of the restrictions in place due to coronavirus, the entries are not able to be displayed in Rugby Library this year. However, the four prize winning designs are available to be viewed on Mark’s website at www.markpawsey.org.uk or on his Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/Mark4Rugby.
Mark said:
“I was once again delighted to receive so many wonderful designs from local children. As ever, picking a winner from the entries was very challenging. Many of the designs reflected the changes in our lives over the past year, with festive characters wearing masks or reminders of the importance of social distancing. However, I felt that Kane’s design of a traditional Christmas tree was very artistic and a worthy winner.”
