Rugby MP Mark Pawsey is launching the We Made It! competition in Rugby. The competition works with local schools and businesses to help young people appreciate the exciting opportunities that a career in engineering can offer.
The competition invites 11-14 year olds to submit their design for a product, gadget, gizmo, toy or tool they would like to see made into a real-life prototype. Mark will choose the competition winner in the autumn, with the winner then going through to the national competition rounds.
Commenting on the competition, Mark said:
“As Rugby’s MP I am extremely proud to be supporting this great project to inspire young people to turn their designs and ideas into real products”.
Mark continued:
“I am looking forward to seeing the innovative ideas of our students here in Rugby and I’m excited about choosing our winner to put forward to the national rounds”
Mark concluded:
“The UK needs more young people who aspire to engineering and manufacturing careers and I welcome this initiative to help students gain a better understanding of how the manufacturing industry actually works. I look forward to welcoming the winner of the competition to Westminster at the end of this year”.
