Mark voted Chair of group that enables Parliamentarians to continue playing the sport of Rugby Union
Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has been officially elected as Chairman of the Lords & Commons Rugby Union Football Club. Given Mark’s enthusiasm for the game and its’ links with the town, he was delighted to be elected Chair. It is the first time the Member of Parliament for Rugby has been Chair of the Rugby Union Football Club.
Commenting on his election Mark said:
“I am delighted to have been chosen as the new Chairman of the Rugby Union Football Club. The club brings together MPs and Lords and others connected with Parliament to play a number of games each season under “old men’s” rules.”
Mark added
“I am a keen follower of Rugby the game and, having lived in the area all of my life, I know just how significant it is that our town is the birthplace of an international sport right. There is no other town in the world that is as closely linked to such a global sport as we are”.
Mark continued:
“As a member of the Lords & Commons Club I organised a charitable game on the Close last October where Parliamentarians played against rugby clubs in the area and it was a great success in raising money for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. We will continue to raise money for local charities throughout my Chairmanship”.
Mark concluded:
“This role gives me the opportunity to promote not just the sport of Rugby but also our local area and I will carry it out to do just that”.
