Mark adds his voice to championing entrepreneurs
This week is Global Entrepreneurship Week and Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has added his support to celebrate enterprise in the UK. Global Entrepreneurship Week champions entrepreneurs for their talent, innovation and drive and focuses on encouraging business ambition and courage. It is something Mark is especially keen to promote, given he started and ran a small business in Rugby for 25 years before becoming Rugby’s MP.
Speaking about the Week, Mark said:
“I know the effort it takes for entrepreneurs and business start ups to succeed in what they do. They are the backbone of our economy and it is entirely right that we celebrate their efforts in this Global Entrepreneurship Week.”
Mark continued:
“At the start of this year, small businesses contributed almost half of the UK’s overall turnover. As a result, small businesses and entrepreneurs who run them are key to our economic recovery and we must encourage their enterprise”.
Mark concluded:
“Despite the difficult economic climate, the number of businesses in the country continues to grow. In the last year alone a quarter of a million new businesses were started in the UK. Here in the West Midlands, 65,202 new small businesses started in the past year. That is the largest percentage increase of anywhere in the UK. We must celebrate this and the more we can encourage people here in Rugby to take that step, the better. If this happens, both the individuals and our country as a whole will reap the rewards”.
