Across Rugby, 1,020 people started apprenticeships in the academic year 2011-12, and another 320 have started in the first quarter of this academic year. This is a percentage increase of 79% compared to Labour’s last year in office.
Mark commented:
“Conservatives in Government are investing in apprenticeships to ensure that the country has the skills it needs to compete in the world and people across Rugby are benefitting from this. I know from work that I have seen at local businesses here in Rugby that apprenticeships are a win for the individual and a win for the business.
Mark continued:
“National Apprenticeship this week provides a great opportunity to celebrate the positive impact that apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses and the economy and I am looking forward to meeting apprentices at both GE Energy and Alstom here in Rugby later this week.”
Mark concluded:
“It is fantastic news that over a thousand people started an apprenticeship in Rugby in the 2011-12 academic year. 320 have started in the first quarter of this year which means we are on course to do as well again. These stats show a 79% increase from Labour’s apprenticeship record in Government. I wholeheartedly welcome any attempts that ensure we as a society see completing an apprenticeship as similar to graduating from a degree programme”.
