Local MP Mark Pawsey hosted a small reception for local businesses with the Minister for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise, the Rt Hon Anna Soubry MP in Rugby last week.
Mark, who is the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister, invited her to visit Rugby to meet with representatives from the local business community. During the meeting, held at the Merchants Inn on Little Church Street, the Minister met with a wide-range of local business leaders to discuss their concerns.
Speaking after the reception Mark commented:
“I was delighted when the Small Business Minister accepted my invitation to come to Rugby. We have so many excellent small local businesses in our town and it was really worthwhile having the Minister listen to, and address, their concerns.”
Mark continued:
“As someone who owned, and ran, my own small business here in Rugby for over 25 years before becoming the town’s MP I know just how great a place it is to start a business. During her visit the Minister remarked at how attractive our town centre is and highlighted the action the Government has taken to support High Street, and small, businesses such as the cut in corporation tax, help with business rates and the landmark Employment Allowance.”
The Rt. Hon. Anna Soubry MP, Minister of State for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise commented:
“Mark is always beating the drum for the thriving Rugby business community in Parliament and it was fantastic to see it for myself and to meet so many of the people responsible for the continued economic growth in, and around, the town. Rugby is a wonderful town and should be proud of its town centre and the sheer variety of businesses on the High Street, particularly in the Independent Quarter. Rugby is clearly a great place to do business and I hope to be able to visit again very soon.”
