Rugby’s MP Mark Pawsey opened the Bilton Junior School fayre last weekend with a little help from X-Factor band Kingsland Road.
Mark introduced the band, including local former Bitlon Junior School pupil Joe Conaboy, thrilled the crowd who had braved the torrential weather putting on a great show.
Mark said: “I was delighted to be invited by the Head Teacher of Bilton Junior School to join Kingsland Road in opening their summer fayre. It was incredible to see how many people had turned out despite the pretty awful weather but it was also clear that they had come to see the band rather than me!”
Head Teacher and organiser Andrew Edwards said: “Despite the weather the day was a great success with so many from the local community turning out to support the school, local charities and organisation as well as Kingsland Road. We were very grateful that Mr. Mark Pawsey MP was also present to officially open the event alongside Rugby FM presented Jason Moss. Our thanks to everyone involved as well as Eddie Stobart who provided a lorry for the main Stobart Stage. Our thoughts are now already turning towards next years event.”
Mark concluded: “The Bilton Junior School fayre is always a great occasion and although it was a great shame that the weather was poor it did not dampen the spirits of those who attended.”
