This Saturday is a celebration of small businesses here in Rugby, and across the county, and I am hoping that this weekend people will turn out in force to support our local shops and will ‘keep it local’!
The Small Business Saturday is an American initiative, adopted in the UK for the first time this year, which aims to encourage people to get out and support their many great small local businesses and the day should prove a great success here in Rugby.
Our small, local, businesses are the lifeblood of our economy, the engine room of The Good Ship Growth, and as a small business owner myself in a previous life I know just how vitally important support from local residents is to the success of a business.
As the busy Christmas shopping period approaches (and this weekend is always one of the busiest) I believe that this Saturday is a fantastic opportunity for local people to head out into the town and our surrounding villages and to show how much we all value our small, local and independent, businesses.
If you are after a special outfit for a Christmas party, some meat for your Sunday roast, gifts for your children or grandchildren or perhaps even just something special for yourself because, well, you deserve it, then this Saturday please think local and support Small Business Saturday! Rugby has so many great small and independent businesses that you will certainly not be disappointed.
I hope to see you with shopping bags in hand on Saturday!
