I want to say a huge thank you to all of the Rugby residents who supported me at the General Election. It is a great honour, and privilege, to have been given the opportunity to continue to serve the people of my home town.
The Conservative manifesto for this election was a manifesto for those who want to work hard and get on whilst protecting those who need help. The coalition Government, between 2010 and 2015, laid the foundations for a brighter future for us all. Difficult decisions had to be made during the last five years to ensure our country turned a corner that jobs and opportunities were created, and our economy recovered.
The new Government will now build on the foundations it laid for our country. It will continue to rebuild the economy; to ensure a job for everyone who wants one; help 30m people cope with the cost of living by cutting their taxes; help provide a home for every family that needs one; provide more help with childcare and ensure a place at a good school for all of our children and grand-children and provide peace of mind, security and dignity in retirement.
No matter who you voted for last week you can always rely on me for support, to stand up for you in Westminster and to be a champion for Rugby.
Mark
