Rugby and Bulkington MP Mark Pawsey has welcomed the news that the Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP has become the UK’s 76th Prime Minister.
Theresa May last week became only the second woman to hold the office of Prime Minister and has already announced an ambitious programme to lead the country forward.
The new Government is a One Nation Government, which will lead on social reform to deliver for hardworking families across the country.
Mark commented:
“During the momentous events of the last few weeks, it has become clear that new leadership and a bold vision for the future is needed. I know that Theresa May’s record in the Home Office, as the longest serving Home Secretary in over 50 years, will give her the experience that the country needs at this critical time in our history.”
Mark continued:
“The Conservative Party is united in its support for the new Prime Minister and her Government as we deal with the challenges that lie ahead. The new Government draws on talent from across the party, bringing together those that campaigned for both Leave and Remain in the referendum and is committed to implementing the wishes of the British people.”
Mark concluded:
“Under the leadership of David Cameron, unemployment in Rugby has fallen by over 60% and we have seen over 700 new businesses open in our town. This is a great legacy and one which I know Theresa May will build upon. Her speech outside Downing Street last week set out a clear, One Nation agenda to tackle the challenges that the country faces and govern in the interests of hardworking families. I look forward to supporting this vision in Parliament.”
