Official figures released last week by the Office for National Statistics show that unemployment fell in Rugby in November.
The number of unemployment claimants in Rugby was 1,621 which represents a rate of 3.7% of the economically active population between 16 to 64. This is 339 lower than at the same time last year and 76 lower than in October 2010.
Mark said:”I welcome the news that unemployment is falling in Rugby. I have always believed that Rugby has a hard-working population with a strong, dedicated and vibrant workforce.
Mark added: “Rugby is in a unique position due to its geographical location in regards to our country’s motorway network and I believe that this is something businesses can take advantage of to grow and develop.”
Mark concluded: “These figures demonstrate that the Government’s actions are getting this country back on to a stable economic footing and that the measures which have been taken will ensure that the people of Rugby can look forward to a prosperous future.”
