Mark Pawsey MP will be participating in an event to support National Specials Weekend which takes place in Police Forces over the weekend of 12-13 February.
The National Specials Weekend was first held in 2003, it’s an annual event and all 43 police forces in England & Wales have been invited to organise events based upon this year’s theme which is ‘A demonstration of the importance of the Special Constabulary in the Big Society, through a focus on anti-social behaviour; the agreed approach being to develop strategies that create lasting relations with both the public and partner organisations.’
Mark will be meeting with Warwickshire Specials Police Officer Glyn Gardner at Rugby Police Station at 12.45pm on Saturday 12th February.
Mark said:
” I’m keen to give my support to the National Specials Weekend as the Special Constabulary is a very important part of the ‘policing family’. The weekend provides an excellent opportunity to raise their profile at a time when the efforts of the Special Constabulary should be commended. ”
Mark added:
” As volunteers the ‘Specials’ play a vital part in everyday policing and I hope that publicity for the event will help to build relationships with the local community and attract new recruits. It is great that people are willing to give up their free time to make a difference to where they live.”
