Rugby MP Mark Pawsey recently attended a briefing in Parliament aimed at providing help to people most likely to be affected by the digital switchover changes.
Along with much of the West Midlands, the majority of Rugby constituency is covered by the Sutton Coldfield transmitter. The first stage of switching off the analogue TV signal from this transmitter is set for 7th September this year.
Speaking after the event Mark said:
“I am pleased that both Digital UK and the BBC are providing extra resources and advice to the vulnerable members of the community in order to help them in the transition to digital TV. Run by the BBC, under an agreement with the government, this scheme offers practical help to older and disabled people who may face greater barriers in switching to digital TV. It is crucial that the vulnerable residents of Rugby are supported as much as possible during this uncertain period.
Mark added:
“I am very keen to ensure that no one is adversely affected by these changes and I would urge concerned constituents with internet access to visit the dedicated website www.helpscheme.co.uk or alternatively people can call the helpline on 0800 40 850 900”.
