MP Mark Pawsey reiterated his support for local housing development in Rugby during a debate in Parliament on Tuesday 25th January.
The debate focused on supply and demand in the property market, but also addressed issues such as planning and development, home ownership and the New Homes Bonus scheme.
Mark took the opportunity in his speech to praise the progressive views of Rugby Borough Council, stating:
“I am delighted that my local authority in Rugby has made the calculations and recognised the benefits that will accrue to it from taking a progressive and positive attitude to the new homes bonus”.
Referencing the particular development at the Rugby Mast Site, Mark added:
“One reason why [this] development has been successful is the very effective consultation process and respect for the site’s heritage shown by the developers. People in the town and communities most affected by the development were able to talk to the developers about their vision for the site – what they wanted and how they saw its future development”.
Mark concluded:
“Of course one of the most important issues has been to ensure that any new development is supported by the necessary infrastructure to support its new community, such as good public transport links. Such issues are crucial if we are to attract new business to the town”.
