Local delegation is invited to address their concerns with the Transport Minister
Mark Pawsey, MP for Rugby has raised concerns over the ongoing issues with regard to traffic problems at the Catthorpe Interchange on the M1/M6 at Rugby, and delays to the Junction 19 improvement scheme. After receiving correspondence from Constituents and local officials, he was able to secure a private meeting with Mike Penning MP, the Minister with responsibility for strategic roads, at which he was joined by local representatives.
Mark said:
“I am pleased that the Minister was able to see me on this important matter, together with representatives from Warwickshire County Council, Rugby Borough Council, Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and the Federation for Small Businesses.”
He continued:
“It is understood locally, that because of the serious financial position faced by the Country, the proposals to develop this junction have been put back until after 2015. However, in light of the number of accidents recently, including three in five days in April, it is important that urgent consideration is given to measures to make it more safe. I was pleased to have the support of colleagues from Rugby. “
He concluded:
“ The Minister heard our case, and responded positively. I’m pleased to say that we had a very useful meeting with the Minister and his Officials, who took the issues that we raised very seriously.”
