Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has this week been instrumental in bringing high speed broadband services to an embattled group of residents in Coton Meadows who have struggled with little, or no internet service, for years.
Mark had met, and kept in constant contact with, representatives of the residents of Coton Meadows since the end of last year when they brought their difficulties with BT to his attention.
Mark said:
”A resident of Coton Meadows came to my surgery at the end of last year to draw my attention to the fact that part of the estate would be getting superfast broadband while the remainder would be left with a much slower service. I was asked for my help to encourage BT to provide decent broadband services for the entire Coton Park estate and remove the completely unfair situation where some ninety or so houses were unable to receive decent broadband services, while the other houses often simply a stone’s throw away would be getting access to high-speed provisions.”
Mark took the campaign to Westminster bringing the situation to the attention of Government ministers and kept in regular communication with BT as a satisfactory conclusion for the residents was sought to this situation.
After the announcement from BT that the Coton Meadows residents would finally get the internet service they desired Mark added:
”I am glad I was able to help out with this matter and that BT finally saw that it makes sense to include the entirety of Coton Park in its plans for high-speed broadband access. It also goes to show that the Government is committed to its objective of ensuring all UK residents have access to high speed internet services and that they are working closely with internet providers to make sure this becomes a reality.”
Mark concluded:
”For me this is what being an MP is really all about; helping Rugby people with issues that affect them directly and working on behalf of them, at all times, to ensure that their voices are always heard.”
