Rugby MP Mark Pawsey pays tribute to Rugby residents and past MPs in bringing about changes in the law on private sewers.
Mark Pawsey MP went on record last night in the House of Commons to acknowledge the great work done by Rugby resident Pam Brockway to bring about changes in the law on private sewer ownership.
Speaking in the Commons Mark said:
“Later this year, private sewers will be transferred to water and sewerage companies, and many householders will be relieved of concerns about future maintenance bills. I would like to acknowledge the work of those who have campaigned on the issue...including my constituent Pam Brockway of the Woodlands Residents Association.”
After speaking in the Commons Mark added:
“I thought it was extremely important to pay tribute to the tireless work of Rugby residents on this issue. I was very proud to be able to recognise the efforts of Pam Brockway, of the Woodlands Residents Association, in the Chamber of the House of Commons and also former Rugby MPs Jeremy Wright and Andy King.”
Mark concluded:
“The announcement that water authorities will now be responsible for private sewers is a welcome step forward and will prevent residents being hit with large bills in the future for sewers they did not know they had any responsibility for. Every home owner in the country owes a debt of gratitude to those Rugby people who have brought about this change in the law.”
