On Thursday 18th July, Rugby MP Mark Pawsey spoke in the Chamber of the House of Commons and praised Rugby Borough Council for winning an award from the Federation of Small Businesses. The award recognised the Council for its commitment to contracting out work to small businesses as opposed to large national firms.
Mark said:
“I am delighted that I was able to raise the news of this award in the House of Commons last Thursday. It is a great achievement of Rugby Borough Council to be recognised in this way and I am glad the Leader of the House Andrew Lansley MP also joined me in congratulating the Council”.
Mark concluded:
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and given the fact I ran my own business for 25 years becoming Rugby’s MP I am always very keen to raise their cause in Parliament. I am glad Rugby Borough Council share my views on the importance of small businesses and this award proves Rugby businesses have every chance of getting contracts with the Council. It is great news for such vital cogs in our economy”.
