On Monday 18th November Rugby MP Mark Pawsey welcomed representatives from the world of Speedway to Parliament as part of a launch event for the new All Party Parliamentary Group on Motorcycle Speedway. The Group has been set up to raise awareness of Speedway throughout the country. Mark benefits from having the home of the Elite League team Coventry Bees in his constituency in Brandon.
Speaking after the meeting, Mark said:
“It was fantastic to see so many people turn up to this inaugural event. I am very glad that I was able to help set this group up and I hope we can raise as much awareness about the benefits of Speedway as possible”.
Mark commented:
“During my remarks at the meeting I told those present that I remember vividly going to watch the Speedway down at Brandon many times when I was younger and I am very glad to be involved in bringing a Speedway group to Parliament many years down the line”.
Mark concluded:
“Speedway is a fantastic sport that is a great family day out. There are not many other sports where you can get into the heart of the action before it begins and get so close to the stars on the track. In Rugby we are very fortunate to have such an iconic club as Coventry Bees in our neighbourhood and I would encourage people to take a trip to Brandon to see the Bees in action for themselves”.
