Local MP Mark Pawsey has expressed his delight that an additional £4m has been awarded to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire by the Government as part of its £250m fund to help with winter planning and to help its A&E department deal with the additional pressures which winter brings.
Mark also welcomed the news that care for older people will be better coordinated locally between health and social care providers as part of the drive behind the new £3.8billion integration fund.
Mark said:
“This additional funding acts to reiterate the Government’s commitment to the NHS and to those who are particularly affected by the effects of the winter months.
I recently spent a day in the A&E department at UHCW and appreciate the tremendous pressures working in the department brings. The department’s staff are exceptionally dedicated professionals and I know that they will welcome this news.”
Mark continued:
“The additional £4m of funding from the Government will greatly assist the hospital as it plans for, and deals with, the additional pressures which winter brings and this is very positive news for Rugby residents who use the services at UHCW on a regular basis.
Mark concluded:
“I was also delighted to learn of the Government’s new health care initiatives which will mean information and patient records being shared across the system and patients having a named clinician responsible for the coordination of their care right across the NHS. These measures put patients first and are great news for local residents.”
