Local MP Mark Pawsey joined over fifty residents from Eden Park at Brownsover Hall Hotel on Saturday for the inaugural meeting of the Eden Park Residents’ Association.
At a community meeting in Brownsover last November the notion of a specific residents’ association for Eden Park was suggested. Residents in the area were keen to create an effective platform to raise any concerns regarding the development.
Following the meeting last year local residents worked alongside county councillor Jill Simpson-Vince to establish the new association. The residents’ association has already established a regular line of communication with the developers of the Eden Park site, Warwickshire Police, Churchover Parish Council and Brownsover Hall Hotel.
The association has also already secured the funding for a new community noticeboard and a defibrillator. They are also planning a street party for the Royal Wedding on the 19th May.
Speaking at the event Mark said:
“I would like to congratulate the hard-working volunteers who have come together to get the Eden Park Residents’ Association off the ground. I very much look forward to working closely with association to ensure that the needs of the local community are catered for and any concerns raised are addressed.”
Mark continued:
“Local residents’ associations can play a vital role in ensuring that the voices of local people are heard and I will do all that I can to support the association to ensure it is a success. An engaged and active residents’ association can play an important role in directing the future of a local community and I would encourage other areas in Rugby which do not presently have an association to consider establishing one.”
Speaking after the event local county councillor Jill Simpson-Vince said:
“I was delighted to be at this event – this is a fantastic achievement for all involved. The committee for the residents’ association have worked extremely hard to get themselves established and this event marks the start of a great future for the residents of Eden Park and its community.”
