Mark Pawsey MP has welcomed measures in the Budget that will back manufacturers and businesses in Rugby, and help them to invest and export more.
Speaking after the Budget debate, Mark said:
"Manufacturing is a key part of our economy in Rugby, and local manufacturers will be reassured by what this Government is doing to help them grow. In particular, energy intensive industries will benefit from the extension and £1billion increase in Government support on green levies. As the economy recovers, that sort of support means greater security, and greater opportunity for more jobs."
Mark continued:
"The Government is also doubling the Annual Investment Allowance to £500,000, which will mean significant savings for businesses who are now growing thanks to the recovering economy. By doubling this allowance, and doubling the lending available to exporters, this Government is ensuring that businesses in Rugby can grow, compete, and fuel economic recovery for the whole town."
Mark concluded:
"This is just one more step on the road to recovery. Today we saw unemployment figures in Rugby fall again, and all the indicators are showing that Rugby is recovering from the economic crisis faster than most towns. However, there is much more to do, and the measures announced today will help Rugby business and manufacturing grow for many years to come."
