Rugby MP Mark Pawsey paid a visit to the AMD Unit at the Hospital of St Cross recently to meet with the local Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO), hospital staff and representatives from the National Institute of Blind People to get a greater insight to the invaluable ECLO’s do supporting local people who are losing their sight.
Mark said:
“It must be incredibly difficult for someone to learn that they are losing their sight and the role that Eye Clinic Liaison Officers play in supporting people cannot be underestimated.”
Mark commented:
“I visited the AMD Unit at the Hospital of St Cross when it first opened several years ago and began campaigning for it to be accessible for Rugby residents not long after my visit once I learnt that some local people were not able to use it.”
Mark concluded:
“I was delighted when the local Clinical Commissioning Group announced at the end of last year that Rugby residents would soon be using the facility and I know from the many letters, emails and telephone calls that I have received that local people are delighted also. From my visit I know that they will receive excellent support from our local Eye Clinic Liaison Officers and I am proud of the work they are doing for my constituents. ”
