Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has officially opened the new ball stop fencing at Shilton Playing Field.
The fence was funded through the Football Foundation and encircles the football pitches at Shilton Playing Field.
Mark said:
“It is fantastic news that Shilton Playing Fields has received money to build this new fencing. The pitches have become increasingly popular over the years so the fencing is vital as it keeps the balls within the playing area as collecting them can often prove dangerous for younger children.”
Mark concluded:
“Even the things we often take for granted like fencing around our football pitches goes towards supporting our next generation of sporting stars by providing them with safe and enjoyable places to play. This is a great example of money trickling down from the top to support grass roots sports and I think it should be celebrated.”
The Football Foundation is funded by the Government, the Premier League and the FA and has awarded 8,000 grants worth more than £420m since it was launched in 2000.
