Rugby MP Mark Pawsey today officially opened the TNT Post UK depot in his constituency. Mr Pawsey declared the facility open and unveiled a commemorative plaque. He was then given a full tour of the facilities and met with the Depot Operations Manager Michael Price, Midlands Sales Director Neil Chapman and depot staff.
Subsequent to a reorganisation of the company’s operations in the UK, Rugby is now TNT Post’s central hub, handling up to 30 million items per day.
Following the event, Mr Pawsey said:
“Since I was elected just over a year ago, I have dealt with a wide range of issues raised by Constituents and visited many people and organisations who are part of our community here in Rugby. I am always pleased to see investment locally, so it is with great pleasure that I open this new Hub for TNT Post UK. I’ve been extremely impressed by the facility and the innovation it offers the postal sector.”
The facility currently processes up to 40,000 bags of unsorted mail daily. Its two mail sort machines are capable of each sorting 30,000 items per hour which will enable TNT Post to substantially grow its operations in the region.
Nick Wells, CEO TNT Post UK, commented
“We are delighted that Mr Pawsey was available to officially open this depot. It handles up to 30 million items of post a day and has the capacity to meet our ambitious growth plans. We have achieved significant year on year growth and expect this trend to continue providing local community employment opportunities.”
