In September Mark Pawsey MP wrote to the Heads of all Primary Schools in his Constituency inviting pupils to enter a competition to design his Christmas card for 2011.
He received more than 100 entries this year, which is double the amount received last year. Having made the tough decision to choose a winner, Mark and his family settled on a colourful design by Nicholas Findlay who is six years old and attends Cawston Grange Primary School.
Nicholas’ prize is a visit to Westminster, where he and his family will be treated to a tour of the Houses of Parliament and ‘Tea on the Terrace’. The card with Nicholas’ design will be printed and sent out to a variety of local organisations during December.
I was really impressed with the amount of entries I received this year. They were all fantastic which made it very difficult to make a decision. I’ve written to all of the Schools who took part and sent a small prize to the children who entered.”
The two runners-up were selected as Emmy Gibbons who is eight and a pupil at Clifton upon Dunsmore Primary School, and Emily Naylor aged 10 of Bilton C of E Junior School.
All of the entries will be on display at Rugby Library from the end of November.
