Last week Rugby MP Mark Pawsey met with Andrew Lewis of Christians Against Poverty to discuss the work the charity does in the local area helping people who are struggling with debt.
Mark was keen to learn first-hand how the charity helps local residents and was grateful to Christians Against Poverty for explaining more about the service they offer. The charity operates through a number of workers based in churches throughout Rugby and a Drop-in-Centre in The Hub Community Cafe in High Street in the town centre.
Mark said:
“Christians Against Poverty support workers offer an invaluable service to local people who are struggling with debt problems by helping them work out sustainable budgets and by working with creditors to stop interest charges wherever possible to help people get back on their feet.”
Mark concluded:
“I would strongly advise any of my constituents who are experiencing difficulties with debts to contact Christians Against Poverty, regardless of their religious beliefs, for expert advice and guidance to begin their journey out of debt and the anxiety and distress it can cause.”
Andrew Lewis from Christians Against Poverty said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Mark to our Drop-In Centre last week and we are grateful to him for his interest. We will be pleased to explain our work to anyone who is interested and would encourage them to visit us at The Hub Community Cafe between 10.00 and 12.00 on Tuesday mornings, whether or not they have debts of their own. Anyone wishing to make an appointment with one of our debt coaches for free personal advice in their own home, should call 0800 328 0006 for an appointment.”
