On Monday 4th November, Rugby MP Mark Pawsey asked the Defence Minister in the House of Commons whether small businesses could be given more opportunities to gain work from the Ministry of Defence. The Minister responded by praising Mark for “consistently championing the role of small businesses”.
Speaking after the question, Mark said:
“I was very glad to be able to ask the Department if they could give more opportunities to small businesses in the work that they contract out”.
Mark commented:
“As I said in the House of Commons, around £22 billion is spent by the Ministry of Defence and I want to make sure as much of that money is given to small businesses to do the work”.
Mark concluded:
“I am grateful to the Minister for his comments. Given that I owned and ran my own small business for 25 years before becoming an MP I always look to push their case whenever I can in Parliament. Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and I will continue to speak up for them”.
