Mark Pawsey MP has joined forces with leading energy company E.ON to make sure that people living in Rugby know how to check whether they could save themselves energy and money by making their homes more energy efficient.
Research by E.ON has shown that 51% of people don’t know if they have cavity walls and 77% have no idea how much loft insulation is recommended*.
Mark said: “Homes that aren’t properly insulated could be losing up to 60% of their heating through the walls and roof – that means that some families could be spending up to £340 each year on wasted energy.
“I want to make sure that everyone in Rugby knows exactly how they can save energy and money and in light of the recent cold weather I think it is essential for Rugby residents to ensure they have insulated their homes properly.”
Kevin Bryant, E.ON’s Energy Fit Instructor, said: “Making sure your home is well insulated is one of the most important things you can do to improve your energy fitness this winter. And many energy companies offer free or discounted insulation so people should check to see whether there is more that they could do at home, and then contact their energy supplier”.
