Under the last Labour Government council tax in Rugby soared 110%, increasing from £721 to £1517.
However, with Conservatives in Government, there has only been a change of 0.5% per cent in council tax in Rugby keeping it below inflation and delivering a tax cut to provide families and pensioners with real help with the cost of living.
Commenting, Mark said:
‘These new figures show how the Conservatives want to help families who work hard and want to get on in life. Under the last Labour Government, council tax was allowed to soar by 110% here in Rugby. This hit families and pensioners hardest, but the Labour Party still refuse to support our council tax freeze.
‘By contrast, Conservatives in Rugby understand that families need real help with the cost of living during these tough times. The third year of our freeze means that council tax in Rugby has remained below inflation – delivering a tax cut for the people of Rugby’.
